A bad day is just a bad day, unless it’s Christmas Eve. Then it doubly sucks.
It’s just one of those days when nothing has gone right no matter how much I want it to.
My little splurge this Christmas was a cast iron Dutch Oven. I’ve wanted one for a long time. I found one at a reasonable price yesterday at Wal Mart. When I opened it up last night, I found that the handle was broken….HOW do you BREAK cast IRON? So back it went today, but they didn’t have any to replace it with. At Kohl’s they were on sale…for $99.00! Ninety-nine DOLLARS (not pesos) for ONE pot? I’ll pass, thank you very much.
I made these delightful looking raisin shortbread cookies, but my oven is running too hot and they scorched.
I woke Ismael up and was getting ready to go to mass at 7:30 at Fr. Bill’s church. Ismael went back to sleep and at 5:10 PM I learned that mass was at 5:30 NOT 7:30. Great.
So I put Adam in his brand new Christmas Eve jammies for his picture.
This one is as good as it gets….
He quickly grew tired of me…
Damn woman. I have important things to do…. like throw my dinner on the floor and laugh heartily at you when you learn that you didn’t put the FILTER in your new dustbuster BEFORE you sucked up my broccoli and asparagus bits from the floor. I’ll bet the engine is now full of Cheerios, raisins and broccoli pieces. Smashing.
I’m making dinner for the family tomorrow. I sincerely hope that I do not inadvertently burn the place down.
…

omg, he is so so adorable. Please keep me updated on the cast iron Dutch oven.
On the bright side, your Christmas Eve tragedies made me laugh! So at least some good came of it!
Good luck with Christmas Day Dinner. Make sure your smoke alarms are all in working order before you start!
