Ahhhhh…my blog. My poor neglected blog.
It’s been a busy week. Busy with school. Busy with motherhood. Busy with wifedom.
Busy calling poison control for the first time in my life to explain, “No, I”m not sure what kind of cold tablet I just pried out of my 13 month old’s mouth, but half of it is left, and REALLY I have to go to the ER?” Great.
Busy chatting with Lindsey, a former student who is all grown up and holding a REAL! JOB!, listening to her tell me, “This isn’t really an entry-level position. More of a mid-level. So I’m running around every day, crapping my pants, trying to figure out what I’m doing. And I’m looking older. I look in the mirror now and say, ‘Berry. You used to be cute. What happened to you?’”
Busy watching Drew, another former student whom I tutored for years through middle and high school, whom I am as proud of as if he were my own son, play in his final home football game ON TV during senior night at Ball State.
Busy watching Adam learn to pull open the screen door, bend over, and crawl right out the door onto the patio, stand up and revel in his new found freedom. (Thank you GOD that I WAS watching that!)
Busy teaching, conquering Moodle and its complexities, and creating some really cool lessons IF I can get the bugs worked out.
Busy joking with my homeroom students about their assignment notebooks and telling one who complained, “You hurt my heart right now. On the inside,” and laughing the next day when he made up various silly titles that should be printed and hung over my desk all of which included some form of “Dictator.”
Busy blinking at Ismael when he interrupts me watching the American Music Awards from the comfort of our bed in my nightgown to ask me to go to the store and buy vinegar so he can clean the dishwasher. Because, obviously. I’m. not. going.
Busy laying down for a 20 minute nap on a Saturday and waking up 150 later.
Busy trying to take a 13 month old to mass only to leave at communion time after he head butted me so badly I nearly saw stars and had to sit down to see if my lip was bleeding or my front teeth were falling out.
Busy repeating nearly everything I say to my husband THREE times. The first time is just out there in the universe floating around. The second time he actually hears me but doesn’t pay attention. The third time is the charm.
Busy laughing at Adam’s dancing when catchy music comes on the TV. His favorites include Mary J. Blige’s “The One,” and Gwen Stefani’s, “Hollaback Girl.”
Just. Busy.
…
Hang in there it only gets busier!!
