I spend most days looking for something. Usually something I’ve totally misplaced. Like my car keys.
I simply could not find them yesterday. I fussed. I groused. I told Adam about it.
I didn’t cuss at least, and said to him, “I CANNOT FIND MY KEYS.”
And like Maggie from the Simpsons, he took a draw on his pacie, reached out, plucked them from where they had fallen in the entry way and held them up.
Today was a marathon search for a new couch within my limited budget. Luckily Lorie is in town and willing to go on this adventure with me because Ismael could.care.less. He wants something different. He doesn’t care what I bring home.
We tried two different stores, the second being a place that sells furniture that has previously been placed in corporate apartments. It was all clean, looked brand new, and some of it was in my budget. Thank God for Lorie and the sale lady or I’d still be standing there with my mouth hanging open over come with too many possibilities.
During a conversation about merits of brown versus tan, I became acutely aware that my side was hot…and wet…and Adam was grinning at me. He managed to pee through his diaper onto me.
Time to go.
A quick trip home, a phone call to friends to set lunch plans, a change of clothes, and Lorie, Adam, and I were off to Rodeo to meet Chrissy and Jason for lunch.
We chatted with some acquaintances at the restaurant, got our chips, ordered our drinks and began to wonder where our friends were.
Finally Lorie asked, “Did Chrissy say HACIENDA?”
We ate our meal, apologized to Chrissy and came home. There are times I think I’m losing my mind, but then I look up and Lorie’s right there with me. Maybe it’s not just me.
I spent the rest of the evening at home and I finally completed a task I have put off for weeks…cleaning behind Adam’s changing table. There was all kinds of crap dropped back there. A clean diaper. A pacie. A towel. A shirt. A tv remote.
What? THE REMOTE WE’VE BEEN LOOKING HIGH AND LOW FOR ALL OVER THE APARTMENT FOR WEEKS.
Yes, that’s the one.
So today has been a day of searching and finding keys, couches, friends, and tv remotes. I wonder what tomorrow holds?
